Our first destination was San Martín, in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon, where we set out to discover one of the region’s best-kept treasures: macambo.

Macambo (Theobroma bicolor) is a close relative of cacao and one of the Amazon’s most remarkable native fruits. Our journey took us through farms and local communities, where we had the opportunity to learn firsthand how macambo is grown and carefully harvested.
We walked among the trees, met passionate farmers, and discovered every stage of the process—from harvesting the fruit to selecting and drying the seeds with great care.
